Detoxification/Drainage Therapies

The detoxification therapies used in the clinic are referred to as Biotherapeutic drainage or as tissue cleansing. This approach of detoxifying the body is frequently the first phase of the therapeutic work being done at the clinic. It is especially central in the treatment of chronic, degenerative diseases. The drainage program involves the use of specific homeopathic medicines, dietary changes, lifestyle recommendations, nutritional supplements and lymphatic drainage therapies that focus, at the cellular level, on the elimination of toxins and accumulated waste products from the body.

Sources of intoxication include those we accumulate from our environment as well as those generated within our bodies as cellular waste.  In health, we discharge these toxins through our primary routes of elimination (emunctories) which include most of the principal metabolic organs including the liver, kidneys, intestines, and lungs.  If these routes are compromised or overburdened, secondary emunctories become involved and symptoms often appear in the skin, nose, genitals, and other mucous membranes.

Acute illness represents the natural inflammation and fever process employed by the body to eliminate sources of toxicity, including bacteria and viruses.  Since the body requires a healthy internal terrain to function properly, chronic disease signs and symptoms are indicative of the bodies failing attempt to store or process an ongoing toxic load.  Physiology becomes disrupted or aberrant and illness and tissue damage results from a disturbance of the natural ability to self-regulate (homeostasis).

In this latter situation, the ability of the body to absorb and utilize nutrients (and medicines) becomes severely limited.  As a result of this disrupted physiology and poor nutritional state, it therefore becomes challenging for the body to heal itself.  Through the establishment of proper tissue and organ drainage, we help to reestablish normal physiological functioning (restored elimination, decreased toxicity, better absorption and utilization of nutrients, and improved immune function) first. Then, once proper tissue drainage is established, we use the therapeutic modalities listed below with even greater effect to help rebuild and support normal healthy functioning of the mind, body, and spirit.
